My artistic foundation is deeply rooted in my family, shaped by my father's early work as a printmaker and my mother's passion for embroidery, crochet and knitting.
Through lino printing and embroidery on fabric, I engage with the tactile nature of storytelling, weaving together memory, history and emotion. Playing with materials and forms, I explore the intersection of personal and collective memory. Relief printing is a powerful medium for me. I create large pieces through reduction printing, slowly removing parts that should remain blank, while simultaneously destroying the matrix. This results in unique pieces that draw on the abstracting power of print. I play with the matrices to go beyond classical relief printmaking.
My passion for the tactile and for storytelling have become powerful motivations for making artist books. I have always loved books for the intimate experience they offer. Every page reveals something new. They are individual and interactive, big or small - they offer a world of endless destinations and possibilities! But I want to push the body and boundaries of the book into new media and materials, inviting different ways of looking at and describing our personal stories. Wherever possible I use linocuts in my artist books.
My work emerges from a deep connection to personal experience and the environment, blending diverse forms and lines. Faces - both my own and those of family members - often form the core of my visual language. I reinterpret political and personal narratives, assembling images to provoke new meanings and layering them with words and symbols to refine and extend the stories.
