The female line is rarely kept alive or even known. I searched my family archives to find the women who came before me. But despite my grandfather's interest in genealogy, there was no trace to be found beyond the 3rd or 4th female generation.
I made a papyrus-style book listing all my direct female ancestors, as well as my daughter. The stitching looks like it was done with a long red thread ("der rote Faden"), linking all women of my family together.
