Karin Stumpf

Karin Stumpf

Born in France and raised in Cameroon, France, Great Britain and Switzerland, Karin is a true citizen of the world.

She attended courses with Jonas Burgert, Christopher Lehmpfuhl, Norbert Bisky, Marion Eichmann, Natalia and Maria Petschatnikov, Mirko Schallenberg and Hollie Heller. She is a master student of Ute Wöllmann (master student of Georg Baselitz) at the Academy for Fine Art Berlin.

Karin Stumpf's handling of material, colour and embroidery has established her as an exciting artist with a distinctive technique. A traveller at heart, she has always drawn from the impressions of her explorations. Her paintings are composed of successive layers and offer different levels of visibility, creating a tension between surface and depth: their superimpositions and their transparency create an aesthetic that recalls the workings of memory.

She has acquired her eclectic style in international workshops in Mexico, Mongolia, Costa Rica, Myanmar and Europe.
